Description: Chinese Pond-Herons have a yellow beak with a black tip, yellow legs, brown upper plumage with white under the wings. During breeding season their plumage will turn a distinctive red and blue colour.
Diet: fish, crabs, insects and smaller amphibians.
Comment: Chinese Pond-Herons are more solitary birds, and prefer to live and travel in groups of no more than 5 or 6. When they do congregate with other birds, they often reside in multi-species groups with other species of heron.
