Found: It is found from the Indian subcontinent and southern China through Indochina to the Malay Peninsula. Its natural habitat is broadleaved evergreen forests, 800-2590m.

Description: Fairly large bulbul with shaggy crest, long, slender bill and longish, square-ended tail. Puffed-out white throat. Head and upper breast brownish-salmon with fine whitish streaks. Face greyish. Upper parts yellow-olive. Mantle predominantly grey. Crimson eyes.

Diet: Forages for small fruits and berries.

Comment: The latin name for this bird is named after British East India Company Surgeon John McClelland.
