Description: Upperparts grey and light buff. Underparts white – black speckles frequently cover the whole body.
Found: Highly distributed species, found in most countries worldwide. Mainly inhabits open country, such as farmland or grassland.
Diet: Small mammals and reptiles
Comments: Does not “hoot” like a normal owl, instead emits a piercing screech that can be painful for humans at close range.
