Metopidius indicus
Size: 28-31cm
Weight: 147-202g
Found: These birds can be found across SouthEast Asia, mainly living in areas of wetland.
Description: Females and males of this species are similar, although the female is often slightly bigger. The Bronze Winged Jacana has a black head, neck and breast, with a clear white stripe across the eye. The back is a chestnut colour, and the tail a dak reddish brown. They also have relatively long and green coloured legs, aswell as a yellow bill.
Diet: The Bronze Winged Jacana feed mainly upon aquatic vegetation, as well as insects and invertebrates.
Comments: These birds show a reversal of typical sex-roles, with the females being larger and more territorial, competing against other females to keep harems of males to incubate their eggs for them.
